Dr. Swe Oo Mon is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Australian National University (ANU), where she conducts independent research on the political, social, and economic conditions of contemporary Myanmar. She received her PhD from the International University of Japan in 2024. Her dissertation, Fragile Democracy in Times of the Pandemic in Myanmar: Democracy, Political Attitudes, and Political Behaviors, examines the impact of two critical events—the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2021 military coup—on political attitudes and behaviors in Myanmar. Specifically, it aims to understand how the attitudes and behaviors of the Myanmar people toward politics, government, and society have been impacted as a result of the pandemic and political instability. She has diverse experience across the corporate sector, non-governmental organisations, public policy and governance, and academia, which strengthens her interdisciplinary research and teaching.
