Dinith Adikari is a PhD Candidate at the School of Culture, History and Language. His research focuses on the everyday uses and meaning-making activities that occur in public places in Myanmar. Dinith is currently writing an ethnography of teashops in Yangon, Myanmar based off fieldwork conducted in 2019-2020. His thesis focuses on how these teashops become spaces of belonging for Yangon's diverse residents and how their social activities within the teashop navigate broader political narratives of identity and belonging.

Dinith is particularly interested in the intersection of milk tea, public place, and postcolonial meaning making among South and Southeast Asian communities.
